Changelog

What changed in Cactus.

Every public release of Cactus for Mac, newest first. Cactus checks for updates when it opens and never installs one without asking.

Cactus 0.1.15

Fixes

  • The schedule bar in the menu bar panel no longer cuts off its label on long blocks. A block from 09:00 to 18:00 used to read "Blocked from 09:00 t..." and now reads "09:00–18:00". Blocks long enough to fit the full sentence still show it.

Website

  • The homepage now says Cactus is a Mac app, the download button reads **Download free trial**, and "7 days free, no card" sits next to the buttons instead of inside the purchase terms.
  • Four Mac guides now say in one sentence that their author makes Cactus, with its price and trial: Screen Time not blocking websites, blocking social media, blocking websites on a schedule, and the hosts file.

Cactus 0.1.14

Privacy

  • The Privacy Policy now covers the upcoming Mac App Store edition: Apple handles its purchases, free trial, refunds, and updates, and Cactus never receives your name, email address, Apple Account, or payment details.
  • This release changes nothing in the app you already have. Your schedule and blocked websites stay on your Mac, as before.

Cactus 0.1.13

Installation

  • Double-click Cactus in the disk image and choose **Move to Applications and Open**: Cactus copies itself to Applications and reopens from there, so you no longer drag it over and relaunch it yourself.
  • Cactus now runs from the main Applications folder. If you installed it in the Applications folder inside your home folder, Cactus asks you to move it once.
  • Setup no longer reports the background helper as missing when it is included in the app but not yet installed.

Error reports

  • When something fails or only partly works, such as a scheduled block that could not be applied, the background helper not responding, or a failed update check, Cactus now sends an error report so the problem can be found and fixed without you having to write in. Nothing is sent while everything works.
  • A report says which operation failed, why, and how to fix it. It never contains your blocked sites, your schedule, your user name, license key, email address, or purchase details. The Privacy Policy lists everything a report includes.
  • Send Error Reports is on by default. Turn it off during setup or from the Cactus menu at any time; Cactus then deletes reports it has not sent yet and sends nothing more.
  • Send Feedback now includes Cactus's recent events, so a report about a block that misbehaved shows what the app and background helper actually did.

Fixes

  • The background helper no longer skips a failed update to blocked sites, the packet filter, or DNS silently. It records each failure with what happened and how to fix it, so error reports and Send Feedback show why a block did not apply.
  • The menu bar now shows when access returns in your Mac's own time format, so a block ending at 20:00 reads "8:00 PM" on Macs set to a 12-hour clock instead of "08:00".
  • Editing your schedule from the Raycast extension no longer resets Cactus settings that the extension does not show.

Raycast

  • Edit Next Schedule picks start and end times from a list of 15-minute times instead of a full date picker, and shows the right hour on days when the clock changes.
  • When Cactus can't be reached, the extension offers to try again, open Cactus, or download it. Open Cactus works even when the command-line helper inside the app is missing.
  • If Cactus stops responding while you save a schedule, the extension says the schedule could not be saved instead of failing silently.

Cactus 0.1.8

Privacy and support

  • The feedback window now links directly to the Privacy Policy and states how long feedback is kept.
  • Stored feedback is automatically removed from Cactus’s active database within 180 days.

Purchases

  • Eligible customers now have clear cancellation instructions and consumer-dispute guidance on the Cactus website.

Cactus 0.1.7

What’s new

  • Install Cactus from a clearer drag-to-Applications window with larger icons and guidance.
  • Feedback and license activation windows now open centered on the screen.

Reliability

  • Scheduled protection now restores itself across sleep, wake, restart, and schedule changes.
  • Removing Cactus now cleans up its local components and schedule before moving the app to the Trash.
  • Cactus no longer contacts blocked websites to load their icons.
  • License recovery now checks every eligible purchase for your email, so an older valid purchase remains recoverable.

Cactus 0.1.6

What’s new

  • Cactus now updates itself from inside the app: an update card appears when a new version is available, and Check for Updates… is in the menu.

Cactus 0.1.4

What’s new

  • Feedback can include an optional email address if you want a reply.

Cactus 0.1.3

What’s new

  • Seven-day free trial that starts when you first turn on a schedule, with no account or card.
  • License keys, plus recovery with your purchase email and receipt.
  • The background helper re-registers itself automatically after an update.

Cactus 0.1.2

What’s new

  • Raycast companion support: check Cactus status and edit the next schedule from Raycast. Edits apply to the next block and never change an active one.
